Japan

Japan is known for delicate refined green teas. Japanese style green teas are steamed to fix the flavor; most other green teas are pan roasted. This give Japanese green tea a sweet, mellow, "champagne" taste. Tea is generally grown in the south of Japan where the temperatures are warmer.

The most common types of Japanese tea are Sencha and Gyokuro. Gyokuro is covered in the last weeks of growing. Sencha is finished in the sun. Our Tamayokucha is a gyokuro. Organic Orange Sencha and Organic Goji Green are sencha-based teas.

Going to Japan? Tea makes a great gift for your Japanese friends! But bring a fine Indian tea (exotic to the Japanese) like our Assam or Darjeeling or our award-winning Earl Grey.
